Hi Dr. Nicole, I’ve been following you on Alone on The History Channel as well as reading your blog and Facebook page. I am in awe of your knowledge of and personal experiences with what works for natural healing and wellness. I was wondering if you have any information on herbal remedies for anxiety?

Hello and thank you so much for your kind message and for your question. Personally, I use my Anxiety & Stress Tincture for addressing anxiety as it has ingredients (like Lemon Balm) that act as a nervine and slightly sedative properties help soothe the nervous system and in turn, ease anxiety. It also has adaptogens like Reishi and Ashwagandha that help with the stress response.
St. Johns Wort sometimes goes hand in hand with Lemon Balm and has been used traditionally for the purpose of managing mild depression or seasonal affective disorder (SAD). A study done in 2016 corroborated the positive effects of St. John’s Wort and found that it not only reduced the symptoms of mild and moderate depression (more so than a placebo did it also seemed to reduce symptoms to a similar degree as prescription antidepressants (with fewer of the negative side effects of the prescription antidepressants.) It’s really important to note that it’s only considered safe if you aren’t on any SSRI meds and you should always check with your doctor if you are taking prescription medication of any kind.
With all of that said, I’d probably start with this Stress Tincture. I use it up to 3x/day when I am feeling stressed or anxious!

You can find these tinctures in my Apothecary – I hope this information is helpful!
